You don’t have to just survive!

I was just on a website a moment ago that was advertising for a book that is coming out soon, and the title was something like, “How One Family is Surviving Autism”.  The idea of just surviving autism really struck me.  I know this book is probably trying to encourage people, but the implication is that you have to survive, or that all you can expect is to survive.  That is such a sad way to view a person with autism–someone to survive?!  Embracing Autism is so much better.  Why fight it? It is as it is, and God has declared it, for this time!  Why not embrace it and see where God takes it in his perfect plan.  And why “just survive”?  God wants us to live abundantly, and he gives us the power to do so!  Do not believe the lie of the enemy that the most you can expect from this trial is to survive!  

John 1:10
